End of Time
Published in Hardcover by (September, 1997)
Author: Thompson
Average review score:

A global survey of Pre Millenial Tension (PMT)
Taking in the vast cultic mileu - doomsdayers, new agers, evangelicals, pentecostalists, fundamentalists (both Christian and Muslim), liberal democrats and, naturally, millennialists (technically, those who await the thousand year reign of Christ prophesied in the book of Revelation) - Thompson's treatise uncovers the historical and sociological motives we have for putting ourselves near the end of history rather than at its beginning. The approach of the calendar millennium has been a catalyst for the current wave of Pre Millennial Tension sweeping the globe but there are much larger issues at stake. Thompson argues that there is a powerful confluence between apocalyptic belief and the universal human experience which allows that belief to fit within the personal horizon of the individual. Our urge to celebrate the passing of time fails to conceal an even deeper urge to escape from it, which is why our celebration of 2000 is set to have a bittersweet edge and a tinge of desperation.

Energizers for Reading Instruction
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall Trade (September, 1980)
Author: Richard Thompson
Average review score:

A fantastic find!
A great book for both parents and teachers to make learning to read fun and exciting. Many recipes for games and manipulatives to lend the experience of discovery to what otherwise is often boring drill and practice. Particularly good for children with AD/HD and others who like active learning. I only hope that more people buy the book so it doesn't go out of print.

The English Governess
Published in Paperback by Masquerade Books (July, 1998)
Authors: Anonymous and Claire Thompson
Average review score:

One of the BEST Masqaurade Books yet ...
I had to trace this book by the ISBN number since the title is very very common .. and .. as expected it's out of print .....

Not knowing when ir if this will go into print again this is a very masterful story of Harriet and her predatory subjugation of Richard the son of a wealthy landowner. Being his governess she embarks on a plan to completely place this young man under her complete power by playing not only with his mind but his body as well. I guess if it happened today it would have her thrown in jail as child abuse but ... Richard wasn't complaining ....

Fabulous story well written and highly erotic.. a MUST HAVE for your erotic library if you can find it!

Ethics and Politics: Cases and Comments
Published in Paperback by Nelson-Hall Company (May, 1984)
Authors: Amy Gutmann and Dennis Thompson

"Ethics and Politics": An Eye-Opening Study
When one hears the phrase "political morality", one is inclined to throw it off as an oxymoron. This set of case studies, compiled and commented on by Professors Amy Gutmann (of the esteemed Princeton University) and Dennis Thompson (of a small liberal arts college in Boston), shows us that the term is incredibly relevant to us today, not just as possible politicians (most of us aren't), but as informed citizens in a democratic society. This collection is separated into two parts: one which deals with the difficult decisions made in times of crisis, and the second with the hard choices inherent in public policy. The first part outlines case studies on issues such as dropping the bomb on Hiroshima and lying in office. The studies and commentaries force us to consider if and when it is right to ignore conventional morality for a possibly greater end. The second deals with currently-raging controversies such as abortion and the death penalty. This part encourages us to consider cases in which two competing ends are at stake. Overall, this collection is an engaging and thorough investigation into a large number of past and current controversies that encourages us to consider the issues from all sides.

Better Than Drugs
Author Charles Fischer captures the wildman of Woody Creek in that special place where wealth and desperation meet over drinks, drugs and tall tales. A satirical and oddly moving portrait of the Gonzo icon meeting two spoiled-rich suburban syncophants and one hapless admirer. Watch the dream of the '60's slam into the nightmare of a new Millenium.

Excellent book. Well written and fun to read. A new twist on evolution that everyone should read. I now realize that the evolution I studied in school is a joke.

I am a decendant of Ezra T. Clark. This book is extra special to me because I got to learn more about my heritage. I am grateful for him and all my ancestors and the things they gave me. It is also a great book just for history content.
